SCIENTIFIC DEVELOPMENT IN RECENT YEARS.
This article is about the development of science in recent years. After Independence Jawaharlal Nehru initiated reforms to promote higher education, science and technology in India. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) conceived by a 22 member committee of scholars and entrepreneurs in order to promote technical education was inaugurated on 18th August 1951 at kharagpur in West Bengal by the minister of education Maulana Abul Kalam Azad.
India accounts for about 10% of all research and development in India and the number of scientific publications grew by 45% in 2005. However, according to former Indian Science and Technology minister Kapil Sibal , India is logging in science and technology compared to developed countries.
The idea of science academies in India has evolved along with the Indian Independence Movement. The three major science academies in India are Indian National Science Academy (INSA), Indian Academy of Science (IAS) and the National Academy of Science (NAS). These academies were all founded in the pre-independence era between 1930 and 1935.
Development of science and technology are fundamentally altering the lives of the people in recent years. To promote technological advancement developing countries should invest in quality education for youth. The technological revolutions of the 21st century are emerging from entirely new sectors, based on micro-processors, tele-communication and bio-technology.
According to the United Nations International Telecommunications Union (UN-ITU) by the end of 2010 there were an estimated 5.3 billion mobile cellular subscriptions worldwide including 940 million subscriptions to 3G services. About 90% of the world’s population can access mobile networks, with three-quarters of mobile subscribers living in developing economies. Poor education is the only reason why our country is backward in scientific development. If the education system is changed it will give the best results in development in all the fields from Agriculture to Space.
